If you see an SSL generic failure error in your log, it's likely that your SSL settings mismatch between your client and server.
In this example client log, SSL is enabled on the client and not the server:

[2017-01-26T15:57:47] ERROR: ssl error occurred (generic failure)
[2017-01-26T15:57:47] ERROR: error:140770FC:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:unknown protocol
[2017-01-26T15:57:47] ERROR: failed to connect secure socket
Follow these steps to fix the issue...
- Click the Edit menu
- Click the Settings menu item
- Either check or uncheck SSL
- Make sure it's the same on both machines
The error should now have disappeared.
